Advantage :
1.Balsalazide is a prodrug of mesalazine. After oral dosing, the molecule remains intact until bacterial action in the colonic lumen. Metabolites do not cause systemic toxicity.
2.Indicated for the treatment of ulcerative colitis. No hepatic and renal toxicity are reported yet. Low side effect and very safe for use.
